In 1987, Indian Association for Quality and Reliability (IAQR) and National Institute for Quality Assurance (NIQA) joined together and became one, the National Institution for Quality and Reliability (NIQR).NIQR is a registered society under the Registrar of Societies Act, Chennai, with headquarters at Round Table House, Nungambakkam Road, Chennai.

Indian Association for quality and reliability (IAQR) and National Institute for Quality Assurance (NIQA) were amalgamated into NIQR in July 1987.NIQR, Bangalore is a registered society under the Register of Societies Act.

NIQR was incorporated with the Objective to bring entrepreneurs and professional in the field to the higher level of knowledge, thereby enabling them to be worthwhile in the society and ultimately contribute to the WAR AGAINST WASTE

NIQR opened its branch at Bangalore on September 1988. With the great effort and hard work of Mr. T R Rao and Prof B K Pal, NIQR was able to have its own premises within a year (1989) of its existence in Bangalore. NIQR is functioning from 12 FF, City Point, 13, Infantry Road, Bangalore - 560 001. Bangalore branch of NIQR is also fortunate enough to have great personalities on its executive council.
